The façade of original home of the International Museum of Muslim Cultures is based on the Salon Rico or Rich Hall, presumed to be the main reception hall in the Madînat al-Zahrâ’, the palace of Caliph ’Abd ar-Rahmân III. It was built near Cordoba, Spain, between 953 and 957. The use of archways is an Islamic architectural contribution as is the use of ceramic tile.
